“Balance” is a glass sculpture that explores the delicate interplay of form and function. The piece consists of two distinct elements: an organic, free-form vase and a more structured, bell-shaped vase. These two forms are juxtaposed and balanced on a single point, creating a visually striking and conceptually intriguing composition. The transparency of the glass allows for a play of light and shadow, highlighting the intricate details and the dynamic relationship between the two forms.
I aimed to create a visually captivating and conceptually challenging sculpture that would explore the theme of equilibrium. I began by experimenting with different glassblowing techniques to achieve the desired organic and structured forms. The organic form was created by manipulating the molten glass with tools and gravity, resulting in a unique and expressive shape. The bell-shaped form was created using a more controlled approach, ensuring that it would fit perfectly within the organic form. The delicate balance between the two forms was achieved through careful calculation and precise execution. The transparency of the glass allows the viewer to appreciate the intricate details of the sculpture and the interplay of light and shadow.
